Description

Begin your adventure by heading out from Quito to the majestic Cotopaxi National Park. Feel the excitement build as you approach Cotopaxi, one of the highest active volcanoes in the world, with its snow-capped peak towering above the Andean landscape.

Your first stop is the Refugio José Rivas, situated at an altitude of 4,864 meters (15,953 feet). Embark on a challenging yet rewarding hike up to the refuge, where you’ll be treated to breathtaking views of the surrounding valleys and peaks. Take a moment to catch your breath and soak in the serene, high-altitude environment.

Next, descend to the picturesque Limpiopungo Lagoon, nestled in the foothills of Cotopaxi. Enjoy a leisurely walk around the lagoon, marveling at the reflection of the volcano in the clear waters and the rich biodiversity of the area. Spot Andean wildlife, such as wild horses and a variety of bird species, as you explore this natural haven.

After a day of thrilling exploration, relax on your journey back to Quito. Reflect on the awe-inspiring landscapes and the sense of accomplishment from your high-altitude adventure.

Tips for the Cotopaxi Full-Day Tour:
